Wild Ginger is a low growing evergreen ground cover, which forms mats up to six inches in height. It prefers full to dappled shade in moist, well mulched areas. The plant spreads via very shallow rhizomes, often just under the leaf debris on the forest floor. Wild Ginger has a large, shiny, dark green leaf shaped like a heart, and a very unique three lobed flower shaped like a bell that varies in color from purple, brown to green and yellow.
